# INTRODUCTION

Artificial Intelligence (abb. AI) is a set of technologies that allows any digital device to work or to perform tasks that generally can be performed by Human Intelligence. From personalized recommendations on social platforms to its advent in Education, AI has emerged or evolved in various sectors whether it's health, education, telecom, etc. Despite having so many benefits and constant rise; AI has become a hot topic of debate for many. Some say that AI is a boon as it has a positive contribution to society while some say it is a curse. In this blog, we are going to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of Artificial Intelligence and critically examine whether AI is a boon or a curse to society and what big personalities think about AI.

# ADVANTAGES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

1. AI can work faster and minimize the likely occurrence of human errors which can be beneficial in various fields such as Law, Medicine, the IT sector, etc.

2. AI helps in enabling personalized experiences, such as recommendations in streaming services like Amazon Prime, and Netflix and e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, etc.

3. Unlike Humans, AI can work continuously for 24/7 without any tiredness, or holidays and provide solutions for problems. This is particularly used at the time of customer care in the form of Customer Service Chatbots.

4. AI helps students by providing them with solutions to their complex problems, helping them with assignments, etc. One of the most common examples of Artificial Intelligence tools is ChatGPT.

5. AI is widely and mostly used in cyber security to detect threats respond to them in real-time and protect against data breaches and fraud.

# DISADVANTAGES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

1. AI can lead to the displacement of the job as the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence reduces human labour.

2. AI poses security risks such as malicious use of AI, Breach of Data, etc.

3. With the malicious use and breach of data, Artificial Intelligence tools can become prone to Cyber Security Attacks. For Example – Various AI Bots are developed in such a way that whenever any person clicks on that link for hack their device and gather relevant information.

4. It results in loss of critical Human skills i.e. Analytical Thinking, logical thinking, etc due to over-reliance on tools, etc.

5. Deep faking is emerging nowadays as a heinous offense of Online Abuse where with the help of AI, criminals swap the face of the victim in any vulgar or obscene video and harass them creating mental agony.

# IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE A BOON OR A CURSE?

As already mentioned in the intro of the blog, Artificial Intelligence is a hot topic of debate. Some personalities including Sundar Pichai, Andrew Ng, Demis Hassabis, etc think AI is a boon while personalities like Elon Musk, Stephen Hawking, Nick Bostrom, etc think AI is a curse.

But According to my perspective, AI is neither BOON nor CURSE to society but its human mind which is the actual reason. Humans are the only one who commands Artificial Intelligence to perform tasks and AI performs it. Thus, it’s simple If the human mind is good, thinks positively, and doesn’t think badly then the cybercrime committed by AI will automatically decline and vice – versa in case of bad thinking of the Human Mind.

# CONCLUSION

As we have moved to the conclusion, let’s conclude what we have understood in this blog, and after this blog, we will be able to answer:

1. Meaning of Artificial Intelligence

2. Merits and Demerits of AI as nothing can be perfect except GOD

3. Discussed whether AI is a Boon or a Curse to society and now looking forward to know your views on AI.
